Happy Thanksgiving from Barley, a Narragansett turkey I photographed @zooknoxville! The breed, which is a cross between wild and domesticated turkeys, is named for the Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island where they originated. Urban farming has been key to saving it, along with many other heritage breeds, allowing their numbers to recover from critical lows over the last few years.
