The violin mantis is named for its long , slender thorax connecting to its wide and leafy abdomen, thus giving this insect a shape like the familiar stringed instrument. Found in India and Sri Lanka, this shy mantis sits and waits for its preferred prey to zoom past, capable of grabbing a fly out of midair thanks to its quick reflexes. Photo taken @theomahazoo.
