Ellie Mae and Zander are giant anteaters - it may be hard to tell from the photo, but adults like Ellie Mae are about the size of a golden retriever! Native to Central and South America, this species has been roaming the Earth for 25 million years. Once abundant in the wild, giant anteater populations have begun to decline as the species is faced with habitat loss, hunting, and the threat of vehicle collisions.
