She weighed 2.21kg (4 pounds 14) and stayed in NICU at Christchurch Hospital for just over 3 weeks. I had hyperemesis gravidarum, HG, and was vomiting throughout my whole pregnancy. We did not expect Azaliah to be early so it was a shock when my waters broke that early, 2 days before she was born. Labour was super painful (and I vomited a lot throughout it) but all worth it of course! Sam and I sadly got covid 2 days after Azaliah was born and weren’t able to go into NICU for 5 days. It was awful not being able to see her but being reunited was the best thing ever and taking her home on Good Friday was so special! We met some lovely families in NICU and know that they have babies in there from 23 weekers. The NICU nurses and doctors were amazing and take such amazing care of all the precious babies, as do thousands of other staff around the world! We are so blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy toddler and have heard of so many prem babies growing up to do amazing things!
