So thankful I don’t have a bone stress injury! 🙌

After a sore achilles for around 7 months (but manageable and I could still mostly train on it) I had a bit of a scare 2 weeks ago when I was doing some sprints on the track and all of a sudden felt a pull in my achilles/ heel area. By that evening I couldn’t even walk on that leg so I saw the physio the next day, given some crutches and got an ultrasound and X-ray. This showed no tear in the achilles but just inflammation.

So we thought maybe it was the heel bone (calcaneus) causing the pain so got an MRI last Thursday and after a long wait for the results (sent to wrong clinic) I got them back today and YAY no bone stress and no major achilles problems, just some inflammation in the bursa behind the achilles so on anti-inflammatories and given the all clear to start back running!!

I am very grateful to have never had a bone injury in my career so far. I've had other injuries and health issues though and definitely some difficult periods and challenges along the way.

Thankful that my body can run and I don't take it for granted and appreciate a great support team over the years including my physios and sports doctors as running a lot is tough on the body!

Also reminded myself that I'm a terrible swimmer while cross training over the last couple weeks, I really need a "slow and stop every few lengths" lane. Outdoor mountain biking was fun and indoor cycling made me sweat like a pig!

Loved my first short run back this evening around the local reserve 🏃🏼‍♀️
