This powerful bird was more than 6 ft (1.8 m) tall and weighed over 330 lbs (150 kg). It lived some 55 million years ago during the Eocene. Once assumed to be a carnivore that hunted small animals, scientists now think this extinct avian was actually a vegetarian related to ducks and geese.
