Lea runs barefoot in the grass every day. The bbq fires up at 5pm on the dot - we cook and eat and swim and gather and we laugh a lot and sleep very little but that’s okay. Its so warm and mostly sunny and when the rains come they come with an assertiveness I’ve never seen before. Finn learns about thunder and Lea counts the seconds from when the lightning strikes. I sit on the porch drinking tea with the baby on my chest, crying tears of gratitude. Every day there is a harvest and every day the sense of joy I feel pulling carrots from soil and picking beans from the vine is so profound the only words that come close to describing any of it are Thank You. July is hard, too. We have a newborn. Everything is new, even though we have done this once before. We stumble, we fall. The love and worry overwhelms us, as does the dishes and the laundry.
