Small, flightless birds related to emus and ostriches, kiwis are known for their remarkable noses. They have nostrils on the tips of their beaks that they use to sniff out prey, such as earthworms, buried in the ground. However, there’s more to these unique birds than meets the eye - females lay one massive egg that constitutes about 15 percent of their body weight; the second largest egg for body size of any bird.
