BIG ANNOUNCEMENT on today’s @substackinc post: I’m happy to invite you the Iranian dinner on April 3 (my birthday!) at @c.g.testaccio_hub that I’m cooking with a few friends to raise funds for the surgical operations of some of the protesters who have been shot in the eyes during the these past months of #WomanLifeFreedom revolution.

All the time the brave people of Iran, specially the women and and youths, have been fighting for their fundamental rights; bodily autonomy, democracy and equality, the monstrous regime of the Islamic Republic has been trying to repress the revolution with (not so) unprecedented ferocity: They killed protesters on the streets, kidnapped them, imprisoned them, tortured them, raped them, put them on sham trials and then executed them. They also blinded the protesters, systematically and repeatedly, with rubber bullets.

While many of these protesters have lost their eyesight indefinitely, for some others there’s still the possibility to save the eye(s) with surgery. This dinner aims to raise money for these surgeries.

Donations start at €40 for those attending the dinner (more generous donations are also accepted with our appreciation), but if you can’t make it to the dinner or are not in Rome, you can donate any amount. For donations ONLY email me at info@labnoon.com.

There’s also a recipe on today’s substack post: Masghati, a sweet, aromatic and ridiculously easy pudding. It’s a remote cousin in the large and overpopulated family of “white puddings'' of the world, the one expanding from Firini in India to panna cotta and latte alla portoghese in Italy, which are all a descendent of either of these historical white stews: Isfidbaj (the Arabized word for sepid-ba in Persian) in the east, or the blancmange in the west. This is a very dear subject to me and I discuss it at length in Pomegranates & Artichokes as well.

The recipe is available for free until the end of May (publication month for #PomegranatesAndArtichokes). After that posts like will be available only to paid subscribers.
