Tomorrow, March 20th, marks the 20th anniversary of the Iraq war since the American led coalition forces invaded Iraq with their strongly insisting rational of finding weapons of mass destruction, as well as toppling down Saddam Hussein’s regime/ and or the new nation building. The regime ended just weeks after the invasion and years later Saddam Hussein was captured and executed. The consequence is, according to USA TODAY, a least 4,480 U.S. deaths and more than 32,000 wounded, at least 100,000 Iraqi civilians dead, and at least $806 billion spent on the war. Yet the Iraqi death toll would be much higher, if counting on the death due to the war-related illness. The U.S. combat mission formally concluded in December 2021, (with 2,500 or so U.S. troops remaining in the country for the advisory and assistance role). However, Iraq’s political, economic and social systems are still far from the stable.
