The ancient landscape of sandstone and mudstone, worn down and eroded over the years by the sea and wind, is dotted with myriad bizarre rock formations. 🧐 An exploration of the coast, part of Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park, will reveal honeycomb sandstone formations that look like hundreds of tiny caves carved out of the rock. In other areas, large segmented rocks stretch into the sea as though the bones of enormous dinosaurs had dropped onto the beach. In other places, still, the rock formations resemble abstract sculptures formed by an imaginative artist with an exceptionally deft touch. 🙌 The rock formations are particularly beautiful against the brilliant blue of the sea and the deep green of the forested hills beyond the shore.
