As you know it’s been a journey from who I was as Accidental Icon before the pandemic to where I’ve landed now. 2022 was a year of grief, processing and feeling the losses that marked the end of 2021: my mom, leaving NYC and the version of Accidental I had been. We went back to the city last weekend for brunch with our agent, Vanessa. She was my first modeling agent and now is OUR agent. When first presented, the idea that I return to modeling was not something I felt inclined to do. Calvin however saw this as an opportunity for new adventures. So he managed to persuade me to give it a try. This time with us setting the terms. Family and house first. I must confess that doing this “how to be old” thing as a couple started to spark some inspiration. I noticed for the first time, this building I had passed many times before in Peekskill said, “his and hers cleaners”. I took it as a sign. I’m noticing everyday things from a new perspective. My mind, closed and rigid in a cocoon of grief, has regained the openness that has always allowed me to have a life of adventure. Even amid the most mundane moments of life I found ways to be creative. An open mind allows you to see novelty, apply old lessons to a new context and be flexible in your perceptions. So with ten years of experience under my belt I’m ready to start a new decade as I started the last one: just get out there and see what happens!
