I had been to Kyoto twice, once at its prime during sakura season and once during momiji leaf season. This time, I arrived to a very different Kyoto - very quiet with almost no foreign visitors, and so very bare. There were only a handful other people on this street even though it was only 3pm. I suppose I was grateful to experience Kyoto this way, but I couldn't help feeling sad too.
