THIS IS WHY COP26 IS SO IMPORTANT.

Today COP26 in Glasgow begins. As I write this caption I’m sat in the conference hall watching people from all around the world arrive to take part in the negotiations.

Over the next week 40,000 delegates from more than 200 countries will come together to put forward their decarbonisation plans.

We have now entered the crucial decade to take action. We have less than 9 years to halve global emissions. This won’t be easy, but failure to do so spells disaster for millions of people around the world.

This episode of The Breakdown series looks back at the COP’s of the past to understand why COP26 is so important. What are your thoughts and questions ahead of this conference? I’ll be covering it as much as I can over the next few weeks.
