Today I will be taking over Jacks Instagram account as part of Reclaiming Our Time, a joint effort between @blackgirlenvironmentalist, @generation__green, and @passthemicclimate to connect Black environmentalists with environmental platforms this Black History Month. I am located in San Diego, California and have found myself exploring the space where environmental advocacy, Blackness, food justice, and digital communications collide. I currently work with a few different nonprofit organizations in the eco-space doing social media management (one of which is @generation__green) and spend the rest of my days working in the organics recycling industry at a small composting collective here in San Diego- @thecompostgroup. When I am not working, you can most likely find me among plants. I tend to a robust “community” garden in my backyard, which will soon start to be harvested and distributed to BIPOC & LGBTQ+ friends in San Diego experiencing food insecurity due to COVID-19. I love cultivating community, security, and stability for folks within my communities, and believe that mutual aid offers us a glimpse into a better and more equitable world.
