Jiuzhaighou is quite simply the most photogenic spot in China. It is also the most popular and best managed forest reserve in China. According to legend, the park’s 118 crystalline lakes were formed after a Tibetan god gave a mirror polished by the clouds and the wind to a goddess, who then dropped it, scattering its shards over what is now Jiuzhaigou. Discovered by loggers in the 1960s, this enchanted place is known to few foreigners. 90% of the visitors are Chinese.

It is my personal vision of paradise, a photographer’s Shangri-La.
