Party’s over: Heading for home at the end of the China’s Lunar New Year holiday. In pre-pandemic years, the Spring Festival period saw some 300 million migrant workers and students heading for their home towns in what was the largest annual human migration in the world, jamming roads and rails for 40 days, before, during, and after the the festivities surrounding the celebration welcoming the Lunar New Year. This year, amid fears of a resurgence of Covid 19, the China’s National Health Commission put strict rules in place for those traveling to rural areas, including daily Covid testing. The measures seem to have worked, as Spring Festival travel is estimated to have decreased 60 percent in 2021. #springfestival #chinatrain #chinarailway
