My cute turtle plant stands out from the rest of my caudex garden, which slowly is slowly waking up from winter sleep. This is without a doubt currently my favourite plant, not only beautiful (just look at those heart shaped leaves) but functional as well.

Discorea Elephantipes is a plant that in nature can reach 3 m in diameter. The core that remind of a turtle shell absorbs the water, so the plant could sustain intself during dry period. Caudex is also reach in starch, so its perfectly edible. The older it gets the core gets bigger and more cracky and vines are taller and bushier.

Ive purhchased mine 6 pieces this year, this one is most succesfull from them. They grow slow, they also fall asleep lose the leaves, but at any point they are a true joy to look at.
