サザビーズさんのインスタグラム写真 - (サザビーズInstagram)「The remarkable and eccentric Sarah Sophia Banks (1744-1818) was an important enlightenment figure and antiquarian. Banks was an enthusiastic collector of coins, medals, tokens and ephemera, and put together a large number of scrapbooks. A highly efficient organiser, she produced a seven volume catalogue of her collection, methodically listing its provenance. Following her death her great collection of over 30,000 objects were presented to the British Museum – it is now split between the British Museum, The British Library, and The Royal Mint Museum. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her brother Sir Joseph Banks, a famed scientist, explorer and botanist. At the time of his marriage in 1779, she gifted his wife with this yellow diamond brooch (swipe for an image), featuring a glazed locket with woven hair and their initials JSB.
