Before the pandemic, you used to dress to look good, put on makeup, and do other things, so people see you the way you want to be seen.

Now that we are all stuck behind cameras all day, that stuff doesn’t work very well because webcams suck. Your friends and coworkers see you as a grainy, shadowed person. This isn’t about good looks. It’s about good lighting.

The hack for this is to pay attention to the light you use. Whether you’re working, teaching, or interviewing online, you want to make a great impression. The good news is that the people who shoot videos for TV know all there is to know about using light to make people look good on camera.
