Love’s main concerns are inspecting the grounds to find delicious grass or snuggling up with his hot water bottle.🥰💕 Love is first and foremost a beloved member of the Kobayashi family who run the station, Love gets to spend his whole day with his family! Love doesn’t work every day, he takes breaks, and also goes home at the end of the day so you can’t always expect him to be awake and active when you visit so please keep that in mind when visiting.😊✨ — Some quick history: The original station cat was a stray cat that looked like a raccoon (tanuki)! 🦝 An elementary school student brought her to the station one day. Station workers took care of her and named her “Bus,” after the Cat Bus in the Ghibli movie Totoro. She was a very friendly cat that would greet people as they arrived at the station. 💕🐈‍⬛ Even as Bus got older, she still greeted the passengers. She was named honorary station master, given a hat and a little house at the station. In order to keep her memory alive, Love came into the picture. Love and Bus spent several years playing together and Bus taught Love how to be a station cat. So today, the memory of Bus lives on through Love. 🥰🐈‍⬛🐈 — We got special permission to show you a day in the life of Love Kobayashi, so that you could learn more about him! Please note that visitors are not allowed to film, photograph or pick up Love or his other kitty coworkers, I know it sounds like a dream to give him a hug but please don’t. They get lots of visitors and it’s too stressful to meet new people all the time. We didn’t pick up Love or take any selfies with him so as to not create confusion. The only people who can pick up the kitties are their family members.
