Photo by @joshuacogan / A speedboat moves through the lake at the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area on the Montana-Wyoming border. The lake is 71 miles (114 kilometers) long and was formed with the construction of the Yellowtail Dam, completed in 1967. Much of the park sits upon traditional Crow land belonging to the Crow people and contains remnants of villages and other cultural materials. The right rim of the canyon that you can see here is currently part of the existing Crow Reservation.
