サザビーズさんのインスタグラム写真 - (サザビーズInstagram)「How many teenagers do you know who could draw as brilliantly as this? 🤔 Regramming our Old Master Drawings Specialist @gregrubes: This is one of the greatest drawings that Anthony van Dyck made at the moment in his early career when he was really finding his feet as an artist. It dates from around 1617-18, when, fresh-faced and wide-eyed, he had just come under the spell of the great Rubens, who had hired him as an assistant. The drawing is a study for ‘The Healing of the Paralytic’, which exists in two versions, one in Neuburg-an-der-Donau, the other here in the British Royal Collection. It was last sold, from the collection of scholar Francis Springell, at Sotheby’s in 1986, since when no other Van Dyck drawing of similar importance has come to the market. The drawings sale on 27th January is part of a great series of Old Masters sales, including the amazing Botticelli portrait that I posted a few weeks back, and a wonderful Rembrandt.
