Sometimes, fasting is a spiritual practice complete with incense (if that’s your thing). The rest of the time, you can do a working fast. That’s where you tweak your fast so that you actually end up having less hunger and more energy than you do when you eat breakfast.

So yes, you can still get the metabolic benefits of fasting even if you don’t have time to meditate that day.
