When you decide to try fasting, you are teaching your body that it is still safe when you choose to go without something. You don't need to get caught up in the details; It doesn't matter what kind of fast you choose; it only matters that the fast works for your goals. You can fast from all food, from junk food, from alcohol, even from hate.

When you show yourself (and your cells) that you can still be in "go mode" when you skip a couple of meals, it puts you in charge of your life. Your cells make more energy, you feel less stress, and you achieve better self-control. The result? You make better decisions in all areas of your life. You'll be nicer, too.
