Rediscover Fukushimaさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Rediscover FukushimaInstagram)「I tried smelt fishing!😆🎣(and failed) Would you?🧐 During November and December, “wakasagi” or smelt fishing is done from on board a traditional Japanese houseboat. Those who go from January to March can fish from atop the ice on the frozen lake! ❄️ Either way, you will be decked out inside the houseboat or tent with warm heaters that allow you to fish in comfort. 🥰 I went on December 28th so the water wasn’t frozen yet. The scenery around the lake was beautiful and snowy. It looked even more gorgeous mirrored on the calm surface of the lake. A small boat took me and my friends over to one of the houseboats. 🚤💦 A very important tip is to arrive as early as possible! Although the houseboats are located close to the shore and every seat has the chance of catching fish, the best seats are those closest to shore and they fill up quick so it’s best to arrive as early as possible to get a good seat. Unfortunately, I forgot to set my alarm to 4 am and woke up a bit late, so we ended up getting not so good seats. We actually caught zero fish! Which is pretty rare.🥺💦 Despite the lack of fish caught, I was nice to take it easy and spend time with good friends after a strenuous day of skiing on the day before. Hanging out in the heated fishing area and looking out the windows at the gorgeous scenery and its reflection on the lake was really relaxing.
