The Wagler’s temple viper can display a variety of colors and patterns which are most commonly referred to as phases. A nocturnal species, this colorful serpent spends much of its time laying motionless in the trees waiting for prey to pass by. When the opportunity presents itself, the viper will quickly spring into action, striking at any bird, rodent, or lizard that crosses its path.
