Photo by @gabrielegalimbertiphoto and @jurideluca Fossils of long-extinct creatures aren’t just for museums. Today they're in homes and businesses, as wealthy collectors indulge a controversial hobby. In Mandeville, Louisiana, Ana Maria Perdigao and her children Nicolas (11) and Isaac (8) are seen in their living room, which has a fantastic view of one of the state's quintessential swamps. Joseph Perdigao, the husband of Ana Maria, who is not in this photo said "I bought this skull three weeks ago. It’s actually a birthday present that I gave to myself. I wanted to buy something beautiful to keep in our living room. I was looking on internet for something connected to natural history, one of my big passions, and I found the website of a company specialized in finding, restoring, and selling dinosaurs fossils. I didn't know until that moment that I could buy a real fossil of dinosaur or a cast of it. I immediately understood that that was exactly what I wanted for my house. So, I bought this cast of triceratops. I didn't say anything to my family until the dinosaur got here. They were positively shocked to see it when they came back home.” #dinosaur #dino #triceratops
