Tika came up to me a few days back showing me his fractured lower left canine. He’s 16 years old and has had a root canal on this tooth previously which perhaps has made the tooth more brittle. Hyena can be extremely hard on their teeth as they test everything with their jaws. What was really incredible is how he came up to show me that he needed some assistance and was happy for me to prod and poke in his mouth to allow me to get a video to send to the vet. The fractured tooth was extracted and Tika is recovering extremely well. The photos were taken the next day and Tika, despite his ordeal was as happy as Larry and running around like a crazy teenager. The pain threshold of these animals is beyond comprehension!
