Touch is such a powerful sense. Humans are extremely tactile beings, so much so that when someone shows you their new phone, the first thing you want to do is reach out and touch it. We aren’t satisfied with just looking at it. We need to combine the sight of something with touching it which leaves a longer more permanent memory. Perhaps that’s why a hug goes such a long way when someone’s had a crappy day. Lions too are extremely tactile animals which is why they really, really enjoy their head and chin scratches. So why don’t you go and give that person a hug who needs it! You may just make their Monday. What’s been really difficult for many people during Covid-19 is the lack of human contact. Can you imagine how it must feel being old and alone at a home with no one to come and give you a reassuring hug?
