I had my daughter Millisent the week before my 20th birthday when I was still just a child myself. I was so scared and alone but without knowing she taught me so much about life and made me who I am today. Becoming a mother taught me how to be selfless, to love another far more than myself, to go without food, sleep or luxuries in order to meet her needs first and to work harder, longer and stronger to protect and provide for my family as a single parent. I’ve seen my darling little angel grow from a baby to a child and now a teenager (borrowing my clothes and shoes) and she continues to amaze me everyday in every way.
