Can Oliver say 5 words yet and point to at least one of his body parts, according to the 15 month milestone checklist? No, he can’t. Am I worried? I was and was really blaming myself. But after speaking to his Paediatrician and her assuring me he’s doing amazing and growing so well, she noted that babies arrive at development milestones at different times and in different orders. And since COVID has spread across the globe, it’s triggered a monumental shift in how we live our lives, and totally normal for us as new parents to be worried more than usual about our child’s development during a pandemic. With the added strain of quarantining while trying to work from home, losing our jobs, parenting, keeping the home safe, homeschooling to not visiting the grandparents at the same time is challenging and heartbreaking to say the least. But the best piece of advice from his Peadeatrician was that we shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves. Given the current situation of the world, we should be patting ourselves on the back, because we as parents are doing a fuc$&ing amazing job in raising our children during such stressful and uncertain times. We’ve got this 💪🏽
