Riding a bike has brought me so much joy during these uncertain times. The idea of designing a route only to go out & translate it to a formative experience is truly rewarding - it’s akin to writing a book or making a film creatively for me. Whether it’s around my neighborhood or through remote mountains. Last night at midnight I started riding from Mt Whitney portal & rode up the eastern Sierra up and over Tioga pass, looped Yosemite Valley and finished off with a final climb to Glacier Point. All in all 257 miles with 18,800 ft of climbing at elevations up to 9,900ft. My poor sea level lungs were suffering but the cumulative beauty of this landscape easily lets you focus on other more important things.
