One thing for certain is that he certainly looks surprised. Of course the camera does so often lie, a momentary freeze frame of an innocent animal chewing grass and we can anthropomorphise (applying human emotions to an animal) to our hearts content. In reality it’s impossible not to when you consider just how much we have learned about the complex emotions with which we share with our animal cousins. See us as one of them, one of the other 8.7 million other species on Earth, and you’ll not be surprised to learn that animals experience all of the same complex emotions that we do….guilt, jealousy, pride, resentment, despair, grief, terror, empathy and even PTSD to name just a tiny fraction. See us however as above all other creatures, divinely created, divinely important, superior in every way, then you’ll perhaps scoff at such scientific certainties. Of course it is not usually convenient for us to accept or to recognise such provable, observable truths because to do so means that we must start to ask ourselves some pretty serious questions. If there really is such an absolute similarity between us, as our shared 600 million year ancestry makes certain, then should we perhaps treat all living beings more kindly, respect their lives the way that we expect, demand that ours be respected. Listen to that nagging voice inside you, listen to the whispers before they turn into shouts, and that voice will tell you everything that you need to know. Seeing, recognising and acknowledging the miracle of life within every other living creature must surely make their exploitation as morally indefensible as it undoubtedly is. #dowhatisrightnotwhatiseasy @onekindscotland @willsveganstore」11月5日 23時53分 - thephotosociety
