Since the 1980s, designed @tomscheerer worked hard with the owner of this Manhattan apartment to update the design while still keeping its New York City elegance. This time around, the client's brief to Scheerer (and architect @gpschafer) was pretty simple. "We just ever so slightly raised the level of things to where we thought they should be,” Schafer says. “Architraves for windows that didn’t have them. Higher doors with paneled jambs. But I never wanted to upstage Tom’s understated elegance—or the owner’s. She has real warmth as a person.” In the breakfast room, a Saarinen table is surrounded by @sikadesign chairs with cushions in a @hollandandsherryinteriors stripe. The pendant is from @roseuniacke, the bone-inlay mirror is from @johnrosselliassociates, and the walls are papered in 1890s botanical prints by João Barbosa Rodrigues.
