While most of the spaces in this Pittsburgh family home—designed by Janine Carendi MacMurray of @areainteriordesign—are richly layered, the kitchen is much more clean-lined. A vintage checkerboard pattern lends a graphic, modern quality to the floor, while the white walls and cabinets offer balance. Working with the architect Liza Cruze, MacMurray sketched a pot rack and hood over the stove that elongates the space. The kitchen countertop is from a local quarry, the cabinetry is custom, and the cabinet hardware is from @rejuvenation; the range and vent hood are by @subzeroandwolf, and the hood cover is custom. The barstools are upholstered in a @schumacher1889 fabric, and the floor was painted by David A. Wilson of Masterpiece Painting.
