Proceeds from the sale will benefit Migrate Art and three partner charities.⠀ .⠀ The charity auction of a series of new works titled 'Scorched Earth' were created in direct response to the widespread burning of crop fields in Iraqi Kurdistan. To memorialise the catastrophe, Migrate Art produced a paint made from ash collected from the burnt fields.⠀ .⠀ Participating artists incorporated the ash pigment in their work. This inspired a range of artistic responses including Loie Hollowell's stylised landscape, Antony Gormley's scored paper illustrating a human form and Raqib Shaw's idyllic mountain range juxtaposed with a violent riot.⠀ .⠀ 1.
