Here are some Ant and I are aiming to incorporate into @oursurreynest: 1️⃣ Use eco-friendly paint. Did you know that many paints contain unsustainably sourced ingredients and sometimes even harmful chemicals? 🤯 Try switching to a more sustainable paint supplier which is water based, uses traceable more natural ingredients and ideally has very low levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). 2️⃣ Get a smart meter installed. This is a government backed initiative which is helping Britain move towards a lower carbon future. The device helps reduce energy waste on a national scale by enabling us to better manage our energy use, and reduce inefficiencies within the system. It comes at no extra cost, just request one from your energy supplier! 3️⃣ Switch to renewable energy. Power your home in a way that is good for the planet by switching to a 100% renewable energy tariff. It’s easy to switch and rates are pretty competitive too! 4️⃣ Shop small or second hand. Try and incorporate some second hand homeware, I love antiques fairs and online marketplaces for this. If you want to buy new then see if you can shop from a small business, there are some great ones on Etsy. 5️⃣ Plant wildflowers. Adding a wildflower meadow or area to your garden is a great way to support biodiversity and attract wildlife such as birds, bees and butterflies 🐝 ✨ As always, don’t worry about being perfect. What matters is that we all take achievable actions, which collectively add up to have a greater impact.
