Head over heels: This rare pair of Ottoman tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl wooden clogs, crafted in 17th century Turkey. Designed with high stilts, they protected the bathers' feet as the walked on the heated floors of the hammam whilst also serving as a striking fashion statement.

They will star in our 'Arts of the Islamic World' auction on 27 October, view them in our London galleries from 24 - 26 October.
