Charlotte Rampling tells us the story of one of Newton’s most famous nude that, incidentally, was also her first: "The story behind this image is as funny as it is unique. I was shooting ‘Caravan to Vaccarès’ in the south of France. Warner Bros wanted me to pose nude for Playboy to promote the movie. I refused. To try to convince me, they suggested a talented photographer: Newton’s name came up, and I accepted. After shooting some fairly innocent photos in a little house where I was staying, he asked if I would pose for another one: a nude, just for him. We ended up in one of the most famous rooms at the Hotel Nord-Pinus in Arles where matadors would get solemnly dressed in their ‘suits of light’ - yet I was completely naked without a stitch of clothing. It was absolutely liberating to participate in a pure artistic project. In truth, I didn’t feel naked but as if I were wearing a veil of nudity. ” Read the full interview with Charlotte Rampling by @OlivierSaillard in the October issue of Vogue Italia, out on October 6th and via link in bio.
