Harry Belafonte was one of the first actors and singers to use his celebrity to further the cause of human rights. Many of the most famous images of protest show him on the front lines. Mr. Belafonte arrived at my New York studio many years ago and immediately my tough cat Tyson—named for the boxer—warmed up to him. This had never happened before, nor ever since. Only Harry Belafonte was good enough for him.
