TL;DR: Momo is hecking great and so are you.

I get a lot of messages concerned about Momo’s health, likely because I’ve been open about him slowing down. Yes, he’s getting older. Yes, he has his health woes. No, he’s not going anywhere any time soon. I think impermanence is generally something we all struggle to come to grips with as long as we’re alive. But Momo is a tough kid. He’s been through so much and he’s still got a lot of life left in him. I don’t open up about his health for sympathy, but rather to be honest about what we’re going through.

What this has showed me, however, is your undying appreciation for him. Some of you have been his friend since he was a teenager! I really truly feel it and appreciate you. That so many of you care about this dog’s wellbeing is something that gives me life. I’ve been spending more one-on-one time with him lately, finding ways to keep him active and busy. Aquatherapy is a little miracle. For a long time I noticed that summers looked best on him, and I think it’s the swimming that does this. I found an indoor heated pool with a trained professional and am super grateful to have access to a pool where I could continue the therapy myself as long as it’s nice out.

Aquatherapy really is the best: it’s tricking your dog into having the time of their life when really they’re getting the best physiotherapy. Like they think they’re eating junk food but they’re actually doing their algebra homework.
