Some days are gold, some days are dirt.

It’s Suicide Prevention Month. My focus on mental health has become increasingly important in my life. I grew up believing that being strong (or “being a man”) meant not addressing this stuff, and my deep-rooted patterns of keeping things inside built walls so high I’m still climbing them today. Let’s face it, it absolutely sucks that some of us have to face more of these demons than others, and it’s completely unfair how these demons choose us.

If today is gold, be the support you needed on your off days. And if today is dirt, seek the gold and hold on tight. I’m no stranger to those days. But your truest self is calling – pulling you into your brightest future. Through the people that love you, through books and songs, through words and ideas, through the magic of nature, these are our safety nets to catch us, our rope to lift us up.
