Another finalist in the Follow the Light foundation’s yearly photo competition, Nolan Sullivan (@tooth_massage), is straight out of Santa Cruz, CA. “I try to find an underlying purpose or feeling behind my photos,” Sullivan says about his work. “This doesn’t always have to be some grandiose thing, but I want there to always be some message from an image I take. I want the audience to feel some emotion from my work. I think that when you’re able to connect with someone on an emotional level (opposed to it just being a ‘cool’ photo) you are able to make an impact on them; I think that’s what really makes photography an art.”
