Her traditional tattoo work is a no-machine process which facilitates healing from the traumas of colonization… with traditional patterns combined with in-depth sessions she can foster real change in each individual. And in the end create community in the markings left behind. Her public artwork also educates the Alaskan population about the still surviving tribes of Alaska: their stories, histories and celebrations. @hollywouldif_shecould talks publicly about the systems that continue to colonize her people and keep them from thriving.   In 2004 earned a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree from the University of Alaska, in the last five years she received a Time Warner Fellow with Sundance, an Art Matters grant and a Alaska Humanities Forum grant for her work documenting her traditional tattoo work which was also featured in the New York Times. Just this month she was awarded Rasmuson Fellowship and has previously gotten an Alaska Native Visionary Award, a Rasmuson Project Award, and been a part of the Smithsonian’s NMAI’s Artist Leadership Program.
