Photo by @bertiegregory A large male polar bear walks onto the sea ice to hunt. Like many polar bears, this male spent the summer on land waiting for the sea to refreeze. We met him in late autumn on the western Hudson Bay. Over a period of just a few days, the sea went from a wavy liquid to a rock-solid ice pathway for the bears. At sunset we witnessed this bear go out in search of seals to get his first good meal in four months.
