The Working Group provided an opportunity for Indigenous peoples to share their experiences and raise their concerns on the world stage. This then led to the establishment of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.⁠ ⁠ This year's theme is Covid-19 and Indigenous peoples’ resilience. To celebrate, the UN is hosting a virtual commemoration that will feature an interactive panel discussion on the innovative ways Indigenous people are demonstrating resilience and strength in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic while confronting grave threats to their survival. The aim is to highlight how the preservation and promotion of Indigenous peoples’ traditional knowledge and practices can be leveraged more fully during this pandemic. Panelists will share good practices with the audience through an interactive virtual event that will focus on building back stronger.⁠ ⁠ Lush stands with Indigenous peoples who continue to take action to prevent and address the impacts of Covid-19.
