When it’s hot and we’re out Calvin always has to suffer my complaints. There are frequent stops for cold drinks, we must always cross streets to the shady side and I’m much slower than usual. Give me spring and fall anytime, weather in which I thrive. I actually prefer rainy days to hot ones. Must be my Northern European roots. No matter how well I think I’ve put on sunscreen the tip of my nose always has a sunburn. My makeup even when minimally applied melts. My hair style follows suit and looks as limp as I feel. Now that my hair is longer I am much more open to the idea of hats. I never before now wore hats, not even at the beach. I simply don’t like the look of a hat on me with short hair. This is yet another way my longer hair is offering me more possibilities. I’m willing to entertain wearing a hat in the sun. This one is like having a canopy over your head. It is hand painted fabric on the outside and a lovely blue sky silk inside. I finally relented and put it on when my nose began to burn. I must admit it makes quite a statement. Calvin is eternally grateful to it because while still not enjoying the heat it made me stop complaining for the rest of the day.
