Photos by Pete McBride @pedromcbride India had one of the most restricted lockdowns in response to the coronavirus pandemic, but the country is struggling as they implement reopening measures. Official COVID-19 cases numbered more than 585,000 by the end of June, and while testing capacity is increasing, it is still much lower than the global average. The death rate is relatively low given that India is the fourth-worst-hit country in the world. Unfortunately, the nation is nowhere near experiencing its peak of the virus.

I once traveled the entire 1500 miles of the Ganges River for @ナショナルジオグラフィック, source to sea. My trip showed me how this one river supports roughly 500 million people, and how social distancing along it would be nearly impossible.
