Video by David Chancellor @chancellordavid Desert locusts leave their roosting tree at sunrise in northern Kenya. A few points about the life cycle of these extraordinary creatures: A desert locust lives about three to five months, and immature "hoppers," as they are called, shed their skins five or six times over the course of 30-40 days, each time growing in size. This process is called molting. An adult locust can eat its own body weight every day, about 2.5 grams.
